Auburn PD offers competitive wages; the salary range for our Police Officers is $87,530-$104,328 a year. As a Lateral transfer, we take into consideration your previous years as a Commissioned Police Officer when determining your placement on the salary scale.

In addition, Officers can receive a 4% premium for a job-related AA Degree, a 6% premium for a BA or Master's Degree, as well as longevity pay. Officers can also receive additional compensation in the form of overtime and specialty assignments. Premiums range from 2% - 6% for specialties such as: Community Response Team (CRT), TAC Officer, Motorcycle Patrol, K-9 Officer, Bicycle Patrol, Hostage Negotiator, Valley SWAT, Bilingual, Detective, Field Training Officer, and Defensive Tactics Instructor. The City offers excellent medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

To be considered for a Lateral Police Officer position, you must meet the equivalency requirements for the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center (WSCJTC). These requirements can be found on the Washington State Legislature website, WAC 139-05-210. For state-to-state and federal equivalency requirements, please view the Equivalency Reciprocity Summary.

The City shall pay a hiring bonus of $20,000 for experienced police officers recruited to the City in two equal installments of $10,000. The first installment shall occur upon meeting the requirements for the Equivalency Academy (medical clearance and firearms qualification); the second successful completion of the one-year probationary period. The City is also offering to front load 40 hours of vacation and 40 hours of sick leave for experienced police officers recruited to the City.
