Auburn Symphony: Tango Fandango Guitar Quintet

Postmark Center for the Arts - 20 Auburn Ave, Auburn, WA, 98002

The guitar seems endlessly versatile. It is played all over the world with different shapes of body and types of strings. It is used for just about every genre of music, blues, rock, flamenco, and classical, just to name a few. Justin Davis, skilled guitarist (and resident of Auburn), has put together a program for guitar and string quartet including works by Astor Piazzola, Joseph Haydn, and Luigi Boccherini. Santa Parade Cookies, Cocoa, CraftGet your craft on at Postmark Center for the Arts prior to Auburn’s Santa Parade & Tree Lighting festivities!

Alongside all the fun happening downtown on Saturday, December 7, Postmark will be offering two different holiday arts crafts accompanied by warm cocoa and delicious cookies. Register to drop in any time between 12:30-3:00 PM to make and take your crafts.

Each individual must register to craft and have a cookie and cocoa.

Artist Statement & Grant Writing for CreativesArtist statements and grants are hard to write, but they are an important tools for artists working in any discipline. In this workshop, led by the City of Auburn’s arts staff, you will learn the basics of writing successful artist statements and begin creating your own, as well as tips and best practices for grant writing. By the end of the workshop, you will have the start to a solid artist statement and knowledge about how to write successful grant applications.

Radical Poetics: Erasures as Reclamation

Radical Poetics: Erasures as ReclamationErasure or blackout poems are created by covering up or “erasing” parts of pre-existing texts including books, medical papers, legal documents, and more. In this two-day generative workshop students will work with Auburn's Poet Laureate, Mateo Acuña, to create blackout poetry and analyze erasures as conversing with and countering the original source text as a means for advocacy, social justice, and dissent against mainstream narratives.
