Update as of July 22, 2021:
Due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the City Clerk’s Office was offering limited appointments. We are currently fully booked and not accepting new appointments at this time. Please be advised there is no waitlist or cancellation list. We will begin scheduling again on August 2, 2021 for our September 2021 availability. You may also contact the US Department of State.

Due to Covid-19, a national alert of passport operations was established on July 2, 2021. Passport delays are to be expected and application processes can take up to 18 weeks from the day an application is submitted to an acceptance facility.
Regarding the expedite service (for an additional $60), it can take up to 12 weeks from the day an application is submitted to the day a new passport is received. The 12-week timeframe includes up to 6 weeks for processing and up to 6 weeks for mailing times on the front and back end.

As of May 21, 2021 the Seattle Passport Agency is only accepting appointments for life or death travel. Restrictions apply. Please contact 877-487-2778 for additional information and requirements.

The Auburn City Clerk's Office is pleased to provide citizens with passport application acceptance services for first time adult applicants and minor applicants. For adults renewing passports, please visit the Passport Agency.

Passport application acceptance hours:

As of March 9, 2021 – our passport hours are:
9:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 2:00 PM – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (except holidays) at Auburn City Hall. 25 West Main Street in Auburn

As of November 4, 2019 – our passport hours are: 
9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (except holidays) at Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street in Auburn.

A check (or money order) will be required made out to the US Department of State; the City’s acceptance fee is separate and can be paid by check, cash or credit card (VISA/MC).
Effective August 1, 2016, a 3% service fee is included for all credit card transactions.

Two (2) identical color photographs (2"x2"). Background color must be white or off-white. The applicant's image must be centered in the photo with at least 1/4 inch space between the top of the applicant's head and the top edge of the photo. Please visit for photo specifications.

Proof of citizenship, such as certified copy of birth certificate, previously issued passport (if you have a previous passport, you must bring this with you) or certificate of naturalization. No photo copies are allowed.

Photo identification such as driver's license (not temporary nor learner's permit), government employee identification card, official military identification card, previous U.S. passport, certificate of naturalization, certificate of citizenship, and aircraft pilot's license issued by the Department of Transportation, FAA. Multiple forms of ID may be required.

It takes approximately four to six weeks to receive a passport. Expedited service is available for an additional $60.00 plus overnight delivery fees per application and takes two to three weeks.
