Clean Sweep image

Clean Sweep returns with modifications for 2021!

Celebrate Earth Day in Auburn! Register your small group to help clean up and beautify Auburn! The Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department will be assigning small groups to projects around Auburn. Current COVID-safety guidelines provided by the State will be upheld at each project site.

Instead of our normal large gathering and breakfast at City Hall, small groups will be directed to their project site and will receive a warm welcome, project instructions in advance and on-site, snacks and a fun Parks item to commemorate the event.

We will be following Washington State Guidelines for Outdoor Guided Activities to determine the number of volunteers allowed at each project. Under Phase 3; we are allowed 50 volunteers at each project site. Multiple projects will be assigned in larger areas where social distancing can be accommodated.
Pre-registration is required. No on-site registration will be allowed.

The City of Auburn is planning a small-scale pet vendor event. While this is not to be confused with the grandiose Petpalooza festival, Happy Paws will give you an opportunity to visit some vendors and stock up on some of your favorite items in a safe, outdoor environment.

The event site will be completely fenced, so the number of attendees can be monitored in accordance with state guidelines. The event will also be taking the following safety precautions:

  • Limiting attendance inside fenced area to current state guidelines
  • In accordance to the Governor's orders, masks/face coverings are required by all attendees, staff and vendors inside the event area
  • One entrance and one exit
  • One way flow of traffic
  • There will be a maximum of 45 vendors, who will be separated by 10' per vendors space
  • Social distancing indicators will be placed at each vendor booth
  • Vendors are required to provide a 'U-shaped' set-up; thus no attendees will be allowed under canopies
  • Hand sanitizer available at entrance and exit

At this time, there will be no entertainment or other attractions. Of course, leashed, licensed and well-behaved pets are welcome.

Happy Paws Event Map (PDF) - please note the one entrance, one exit and the one-way flow of traffic. Vendor booths will be placed 10' apart and social distancing indicators will be painted on the ground to help guide physical distancing requirements.

Another piece of paws-itive news: we are currently accepting registrations for the Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run. It is currently being planned as a virtual event. If restrictions are lifted and we are able to safely host the Dog Trot in-person, we will do our best to switch to an in-person model. If you'd like to remain virtual, we can accommodate that too! Registrations accepted through April 22 for Auburn's Dog Trot.

Since 2008, Auburn’s Petpalooza has been a bright spot for thousands of animal lovers and their furry companions. Although we cannot celebrate with our traditional Petpalooza festival in 2021, please know that we’re committed to future festivals and look forward to Auburn’s Petpalooza 2022.

Auburn's 56th annual Veterans Parade & Observance

Main Street

Auburn, Washington is typically designated by the Veterans Day National Committee and the US Department of Veterans Affairs as a Regional Site for the celebration of Veterans Day. The City of Auburn is proud to be a Vietnam War Commemorative Partner and considers it an honor and privilege to host this annual event. Auburn has hosted the Veterans Parade since 1965. Now in its 56th year, the parade has grown into one of the largest parades of its kind in the United States of America.

The purpose of Auburn's Veterans Parade & Observance is to positively focus on honoring our country's veterans and active military personnel. Through our parade, we focus recognition on congressionally-recognized Veteran Service Organizations and their auxiliaries, the military and military reserve, National Guard and ROTC. The goals and purposes of Auburn's Veterans Parade & Observance are to give honor to our country's veterans and to their military missions of defending freedom around the world.

We are currently planning for the 56th annual Veterans Parade to be held in Auburn on Saturday, November 6, starting at 11:00 AM. The parade typically boasts over 200 units and nearly 6,000 parade participants, including 25+ marching bands, military vehicles, veterans' units, honor guards and more.

The parade route travels along Main Street from E Street to A Street NW/SW. To participate in Auburn's Veterans Parade, complete and return the official Parade Application Form or complete the on-line registration (available in Fall 2021).
