Learn how to capture a moment with ink and watercolor wash for the purpose of having a easy way to create on the go! This fun class will begin with simple still life drawings and landscapes and then adding color and learning different techniques to create texture. If the weather permits we will also go outside. All supplies are provided, no experience necessary, and each student will get to take home a travel watercolor journal to continue filling with artistic memories! Pre-registration required. Come learn how to paint a beautiful landscape from a photograph. You can bring your own photo or use pictures provided in the class. We will spend time seeing color for what it is and apply it with brushes as well as pallet knives. All supplies will be provided and you get to go home with your painting. Pre-registration required. Image of Quilled Paper skullDay of the Dead Paper Quilling – #54250
In this fun and festive class, students will design and create a Day of the Dead sugar skull by quilling and rolling colorful strips of different widths paper. By learning this technique you will learn how to create different shapes: flowers, leaves, water drop, etc. All tools and supplies are provided! Quilling is the art of rolling narrow strips of paper into coils or scrolls, and arranging them to form elegant filigree. In this project, you’ll learn how to use a toothpick to roll coils and scrolls, then pinch, shape, and arrange them into decorative patterns. Program will be illustrated with books and samples of different designs. Quilling designs can also be used to decorate cards, cover books, jewelry, etc. Pre-registration required. Halloween Block Printing Workshop - #54256
Inspired by Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos, students in this 2 hour relief printing workshop, will design, carve, and hand print their own images onto paper, creating cards, posters, and more! Students will learn about Soft Cut blocks (similar to rubberstamps), linoleum block, and wood block carving and hand printing techniques as well as using a small table top proofing press. In addition to printing their own design, we will have a variety of precut Halloween themed blocks available for them to make prints from. All supplies will be provided and students will be able to take home the block(s) and prints they create in the workshop. We advise students prepare for this workshop by bringing a few black and white drawings or image ideas with them, with bold lines or shapes preferred up to 4”x4”. Pre-registration required. Astound your significant other, amaze your friends and family, be the envy of your neighborhood with your very own fused glass creations. Our 2 hour class covers basic types of fusible glass and techniques that will allow you to create two 4x4 tiles and a pendant art piece. Your art pieces will be fired by the instructor and available for pickup 7 days after the class. Age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required.
