John Holman

JohnJohn Hayes Holman began his service on the Auburn City Council in January 2012. He is a member of Auburn Cities & Schools and the Green River College Foundation Board. He has previously served on the city's LEOFF Disability Board and as Auburn's Deputy Mayor.

Regionally, he serves on the Puget Sound Regional Council's (PSRC) Growth Management Policy Board, the Seattle King County Economic Development Council, the National League of Cities' (NLC) Community & Economic Development Committee, the NLC First Tier Suburbs Steering Committee and the Washington State Forensics Investigations Council. He is a proud member of the Auburn Rotary club. Prior to joining the Council he served for five years on the Washington State Boundary Review Board.

He has served as an International Police Liaison Officer in Baghdad, Iraq in 2004 and 2005. There his task was to assist the Chief of the Bagdad Province Police in establishing a modern administration for a 26,000 member force.

Holman grew up in Auburn, graduated from Auburn High, and attended Green River College before transferring to Central Washington University in Ellensburg. He holds a degree is in Sociology with minors in Education and Psychology. After graduating, he moved back to Auburn and began working as a Police Officer for the Port of Seattle. He retired from police work after a 31 year career. He met his wife, Arlista, when she was working at SeaTac while attending Seattle University and were married in 1978. They have made a home and raised two children in Auburn.
